…all things on a woman’s mind

Hi Doran,
You certainly have struck gold with this post. As a coach, I like to call that spot that you mention the ‘sweet spot’ of success. It’s that moment when the chips are down and things are looking as bleak as they could be.
In terms of weight loss, that could be the moment when the cravings have gotten their grip on you and you’re just about to run to the cabinets for something to satisfy that urge or maybe the binge is behind you and you’re thinking, Why not continue?
That turning point moment surfaces when we’re feeling completely overwhelmed and afraid of never reaching our goals.
In NLP, there is a presupposition that states that it’s feedback not failure. That means that many people have a shorter time line for success. If you consider that you have all the time that you need to achieve your goal, you will do it.
That golden moment when you feel like you’ve been hit in the gut and you want to give up is a gift in disguise. It’s telling you to take just a moment and reassess what you’re doing. Like you said, it may just require pushing a little further or sweating a little more, but it also may mean doing something different as Edison role modelled.
After all he tried 10,000 different filaments before he found the right one that would work for his light bulb. His success teaches us to:
Be flexible and Pay Attention to Feedback
I am reminded of a passage from a beautiful poem that has inspired me for many years written by Anonymous, I’d like to share it with you.
When things go wrong as they sometimes will.
When the road you’re trudging seems all up hill.
When funds are low and the debts are high.
And you want to smile, but you have to sigh.
When care is pressing you down a bit.
Rest, if you must, but don’t you quit.
Life is queer with its twists and turns.
As everyone of us sometimes learns.
And many a failure turns about.
When he might have won had he stuck it out:
Don’t give up though the pace seems slow –
You may succeed with another blow.
Success is failure turned inside out –
The silver tint of the clouds of doubt
And you never can tell how close you are.
It may be near when it seems so far:
So stick to the fight when you’re hardest hit –
It’s when things seem worst that you must not quit.

Thank you, Doran for inspiring this important lesson and offering the reminder that success is always achievable as long as we focus on possibilities and continue to listen to feedback.
Warmest regards,
Andrea
