If your wife or girlfriend loves fashion then you may be considering buying her clothes as a gift this Christmas. However, many men just don’t know where to start when it comes to buying clothes for women. This doesn’t mean to say you shouldn’t buy her clothes; all you need to do is carefully consider a few things before you decide to splash out and hopefully you’ll come up with something she loves. Getting the choice right will make the woman in your life happy – not just because she has something new to wear but also because it shows that you have really thought about her, her personal style and her personal tastes.
Firstly don’t try to change her look into something you think it should be, your wife or girlfriend may take offence if she feels you are trying to change her or you are suggesting you don’t like the way she looks. Analyze the kind of clothes she loves to wear and those she feels most comfortable in and build on this for inspiration. Does she love jeans? Are coats and jackets her thing? Does she love cashmere? Think of something she looks good and feels comfortable in and then maybe try to find something similar. A good choice is to buy something she likes in a luxury brand, this covers anything from a pair of designer jeans to a devastatingly feminine little black dress.
Do try to find out her size although this area can be a minefield! Your best bet is to sneak a look at the labels in her clothes but don’t forget that a lot of women take a different size on their top half than they do on their bottom half. Keep hold of any receipts you get with a clothing purchase so that she can exchange the item if it does not fit her.
Some women welcome the gift of exquisitely made expensive lingerie, however for other women it will make them feel as if you are hinting that you want them to be more ‘sexy’. If you know your partner will love and appreciate lingerie then go for it but remember that some women won’t appreciate lingerie as a gift.
Consider color with care as well for example if she is a redhead avoid oranges, reds and pinks. Browns and tans don’t always suit brunettes either so it’s important to consider her skin tone. Darker skins and those who opt for the tanned look can generally take stronger colors. Lots of women love black and this can be a safe bet but make sure your wife or girlfriend is one of the women who likes this color.
